Fact sellers at Meaning's Gate (verse)

Some call it Destiny, some deem it Fate
Opinions and oddities are in us innate
Some see it half-empty, others half-full
Some go for the push and some indeed the pull
Some just slurp away, having partaken their fill
Some find it fulfilling, for others tis "A nil!"

I see Fact sellers suffer at Meaning's gate
Holding up their cups, while the rest nurse plates!

Some like it hot, some nurse it cold
Many go for youth, but some do relish the old
Some want'em shaven, after the growth is sheared
Some like'em flowing, like JJ's glorious beard
Some jump with joy, and cry out "fantastic!"
Some somehow like big words like critique.

I see Fact sellers ramble at Meaning's gate
Holding aloft their cups, while the rest lick plates!

A hero, I say, is every schoolgirl's dream
But fallen ones make a schoolmarm's scream
While lil girls lick their ice-creams thick
Schoolmarms love to knit and nitpick
Such is the way of the Good Lord's universe
Praise his blessing and critics His curse

I see Fact sellers squirm at Meaning's gate
Their lonely cups rattle over assembled plates!
