Gulzar's poem for Pancham (translation)

Do you remember those rainy days, Pancham?
Remember?
Yonder the hills, in the low valley
Where, piercing the mist
The rail tracks seemed adrift
In the foggy air, we seemed like two little saplings
We sat there for long. We did.
We spoke of a traveler
Who had to arrive the previous evening
But the hour of his arrival seemed to take long
We squatted  then,  on the tracks. For long.
We waited for that elusive train
The train did not come, nor its hour
And you walked a couple of feet, stepped into the mist, vanished
I am still there, alone in the mist, dear Pancham
